The Weitz Company
Director of Client Relations and Business Development, Jeff Chaves has been with The Weitz Company since 2012. Weitz, established in Iowa in 1855, is a multi-billion dollar general contractor, construction manager and design-builder, consistently ranking among the Top 50 in the industry.
Prior to joining Weitz, Jeff provided BD services for Abengoa, Kitchell and Olsson Associates after transitioning from his technical career as a registered geologist and hydrogeologist. He received a BS in Geology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, followed by a Master of Science in Hydrology. His early environmental work was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers, winning the Award of Excellence for the Arrowhead Ranch Wastewater Recharge Facility in 2002.
Fluent and literate in Spanish, he has worked in Mexico on the design and construction of desalinization plants and beach wells, and was instrumental in bringing the Solana Generating Station - cited as the world’s largest solar power plant - to Gila Bend.
Board Liaison to Golf Tournament committee, Jeff also participates on Valley Partnership’s Federal Issues committee as well as the Community Building Consortium of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. His charitable efforts include various projects for Valley Partnership, the West Valley Child Crisis Center and Southwest Autism Research and Research Center. A former coach and board member of North Scottsdale Little League, he also served as a co-founder and coach of the Desert Firebirds Youth Baseball Club.
